Earlier today, it was reported by the local Marseille media that Morgan Sanson’s transfer to Aston Villa, while close, wasn’t quite done yet.

It was expected to be so in the next 24 hours, according to the player’s entourage, and it appears that timeline will be adhered to after all.

We say this because RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi took to Twitter to announce Sanson was ‘already in Birmingham’ ahead of the move, where he would sign a four and a half year contract with the Villans.

Not only that, but the midfielder is ready to sign on the dotted line very quickly because he has ‘already passed his medical’, having done so ‘yesterday in Paris’.

That’s why ‘the official announcement’ is expected ‘in the coming hours’, meaning Sanson should be holding that claret and blue shirt before the end of the day, completing a transfer worth around €18m or so.

Exciting times.

For those wondering, Sanson has been a semi-regular under André Villas-Boas this season, making just 12 appearances in Ligue 1 for Marseille, scoring two goals and providing three assists along the way.
