A Spor Fenerbahce reporter Ahmet Selim Kul claims the club are very close to signing Aston Villa forward Mbwana Samatta.
Kul reports Samatta is likely to arrive in Istanbul on Tuesday and will then complete his move to Fener.
The Turkish journalist also says the Super Lig side have made progress in their pursuit of Porto’s Ze Luis, but it seems a deal for the Aston Villa player is closer.
After selling Vedat Muriqi to Lazio for €17.5m, the Turkish side are in the market for strikers and they’ve been linked with a loan move for Samatta in recent weeks.
The 27-year-old joined Dean Smith’s side from Genk in January for €10m, but has failed to prove himself in the Premier League, scoring just one goal in 14 appearances last season.
With Aston Villa bringing in Ollie Watkins and Bertrand Traore, Samatta would have been even further down the pecking order and it looks like he’s decided to join Fenerbahce.
