The Portuguese press continues not to have a doubt that Nottingham Forest’s deal to take two Benfica players is pretty much done.
On Monday, newspapers like O Jogo and Diário de Notícias reiterate that the Championship side are signing João Carvalho permanently for €15m, while Diogo Gonçalves makes the move on a one-year loan spell.
There are no updates on yesterday’s stories, and despite saying there’s a full agreement between clubs, players and agents, apparently there still isn’t a date set when the youngsters will travel to England to have their medicals and sign their contracts.
Now there’s another interesting article coming from Correio da Manhã, which talks about Diogo Gonçalves’ excitement to be making the move.
Leaving a top Portuguese club to join a Championship side has always been a concern in the country, especially when players were leaving Benfica and Porto to sign for Wolverhampton last summer.
But today, Correio da Manhã claims that Gonçalves is ‘very excited’ and sees the move ‘with good eyes’ to play more regularly, and expects to develop his game in England.
Without mentioning Carvalho, Correio da Manhã claims that Gonçalves’ loan deal is very close to being done, and could be finalised in the next few days.
