With little backup to Hugo Lloris at Tottenham, Fabio Paratici decided to turn to Italy to bring in someone to offer the Frenchman some competition.
The chosen man was Pierluigi Gollini, who arrived on loan from Atalanta with an option to buy.
The problem there is that the Italian has barely played at Tottenham since his arrival, with Lloris reinforcing why he has been the number one all these years, and while Antonio Conte’s side have struggled here and there, the France international’s position has never been in doubt.
That means spending money on Gollini going forward is unlikely, especially since his main competition signed a new contract this season in the process, and La Nazione, relayed by Viola News, have made that clear.
Fiorentina are one of the teams who are likely to need a new goalkeeper in the summer, as Pietro Terracciano has benched Bartlomiej Dragowski, who could be sold.
Among those who could make the move to Florence is Gollini, as he’s said the player, currently at Tottenham, is ‘eager to return to Italy’.
That’s because ‘he is not playing’ and has a contract at Atalanta until 2023, making this summer the perfect time for the Serie A side to cash in if Spurs do not trigger their option to buy.
