Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei is set to undergo a medical at Chelsea in the next 48 hours after the two clubs struck a deal.

That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who says a €15m plus €5m in bonuses deal is now close to being completed.

That echoes a report we covered earlier today that stated Chelsea have reached an agreement with Inter Milan for Casadei on a deal that could eventually reach €20m.

The Blues have been keen on the young midfielder for several weeks, with his name first appearing as part of the talks that took Romelu Lukaku back to Inter this summer.

Negotiations have been ongoing and now, with a deal struck, it seems he’s set to make the next step as Di Marzio reports the midfielder will undergo his Chelsea medical in the next 48 hours.

According to his information, Casadei is set to leave Italy tomorrow and then undergo his medical examinations on Thursday.

The notion of a move being impending is also backed up by journalist Paolo Bargiggia, who believes it’s a good move for Thomas Tuchel and co.

“Can Casadei be a Zaniolo-like regret? Definitely yes, especially if he explodes,” he told 1 Station Radio, relayed by Napoli Magazine.

“We have no certainties about the boy’s potential, but if Chelsea has made a move it means he is good.

“Then again, for the English, a €15 million price tag is a no-brainer.

“The problem for the Nerazzurri is that they are an already old squad, and they would need to focus on some youngsters.”
