Dario Del Fabro, once of Leeds United, has been interviewed by Italian website Numero Diez this week.

The 24-year-old didn’t spend a long time at Elland Road. He signed for the club on a loan deal from Cagliari back in 2014, and played in England for only one year until returning to Italy.

Still, his time in the Championship is a regular topic in his interviews, especially now that he’s back in the United Kingdom, having signed for Scottish side Kilmarnock on a loan deal from Juventus last summer.

Speaking of his recent move, Del Fabro has claimed he wanted a new chance in British football, since he was far too young when playing for Leeds.

“My choice was based on Angelo Alessio’s knowledge. When, as a manager of Kilmarnock in the summer, he called me here, I didn’t think about it for a moment, also and above all to change the air. In Serie B I had offers, as in Poland or Belgium, but I needed different stimulation to test myself. And then I was fascinated by British football in which I had played when I was too young, at Leeds. I wanted to try my luck knowing that this is an important area of football.”

And when talking about his short time in Scotland, he claims it’s already better than his season at Leeds United.

“My six months have been very positive, better than I would have expected, I had such stability and adaptability as to enter the project immediately becoming an idol in a few months. A totally different experience from that of Leeds, where I had difficulty adapting in a club in full internal transformation. Now I’m in a great moment of my career, I know that I don’t have to give up an inch to enjoy the dream of hoping to progress more and more.”

Del Fabro was also asked about Marcelo Bielsa’s work at the Championship side, and praised the Argentine manager for the huge improvement at the club.

“At Leeds I can tell you that surely Bielsa may have changed things exponentially for his way of seeing football: being always favourites in such a long and complicated league like the Championship isn’t easy. For me, it remains the most difficult competition in Europe in terms of number of matches over the year.”

Leeds United will hope that this year they can get out of the Championship, and it sounds like Del Fabro will be hoping they do so.
