Chelsea are interested in signing Rennes’ Édouard Mendy.
On Monday, L’Equipe reported the Ligue 1 side haven’t received an offer from the Blues for their goalkeeper.
Today’s edition of L’Equipe focuses on the potential business Rennes may conduct before the window closes on October 5th.
With regards to exits, the newspaper states Rennes could part ways with the 28-year-old as the west London club continue to chase him.
At the stopper’s end, there’s ‘some impatience’ as he’s ‘determined’ not to miss the chance to join the Premier League club this summer. Rennes remain discreet and continue to suggest there’s been no offers for Mendy.
L’Equipe state Rennes have initiated contact with Paris Saint-Germain’s Alphonse Areola and this would suggest the club have ‘prepared for the eventuality of losing Mendy’.
TuttoMercatoWeb also have a report on Chelsea’s interest in Mendy.
They state Frank Lampard’s side presented another offer of €25m plus bonuses for the player. His employer earlier requested around €30m, but Chelsea’s latest proposal ‘seems to have convinced’ them.
Rennes must find a replacement first before they sanction Mendy’s sale and Areola is on top of their list.
TMW add AC Milan and Fulham are interested in Areola, and this remains an ‘obstacle’ for Rennes to sign him, which in turn could delay Mendy’s move to Chelsea.
