Benfica right-back Nelson Semedo has responded to the rumours which have been linking him to a Manchester United move.
Speaking to Sport TV (via O Jogo), the player said he’s not really thinking about it at the moment.
“They can be calm because I’m completely focused on Benfica and I hope to continue here for many years helping the club to achieve its objectives.”
Claims from the Portuguese press have recently said the deal with Manchester United was very close, and the Red Devils would be planning a double transfer by signing him and his teammate Victor Lindelof.
But things have gone quiet for now, leaving the story in the dark.
The player’s price is something unclear. None of the outlets have said how much Manchester United pay for him.
Semedo’s release clause is also something very confusing. Officially, it’s €30m, but the player has been pretty close to signing a new contract at Benfica, with some newspapers saying the new figure would be €60m or €80m. This new deal is so close that even websites like Transfermarkt say it’s €60m already.
