Newcastle United showed interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Idrissa Gueye late in the winter market.
It was originally reported in France on Sunday, and Monday sees France Football and L’Equipe stating the Magpies wanted to take the midfielder on a loan deal until the end of the season.
After starting in Mauricio Pochettino’s first two league matches for Les Parisiens, the 31-year-old has been restricted to nine minutes of action in the last three matches.
It’s claimed the former Tottenham Hotspur manager doesn’t see the Senegal international as a player to be regularly included in his starting XI at PSG.
Despite the current situation, the ex-Everton man ‘does not want to rush’ and move elsewhere. He communicated the same to the club’s leaders after PSG’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of FC Lorient on Sunday.
