With Burnley attempting to sign a centre-back before the end of the transfer window, it seems they’ve just failed to land one of their targets.
According to L’Equipe, Rennes defender Christopher Wooh has turned down the opportunity to join the Clarets.
It’s said that the centre-back was approached by a few English clubs, with Burnley ‘in particular’ and ‘declined’ the transfer.
Wooh reportedly ‘pushed back’ the interested sides because he wishes to stay at Rennes until the end of the season.
There’s no information on whether Burnley even made an offer to get the defender signed, as it sounds like the possibility was declined even before they had the chance to talk about money.
The Clarets remain in an advanced position for the signing of Maxime Esteve from Montpellier, as it was reported today that the player is pushing for the move and just waiting for the green light to complete the transfer.
It’s also been said that the club still want a left-back signed before the deadline, and should keep working on that mission.
