While several top European clubs retain an interest in AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, reports suggest the club’s second choice goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzari has also started to generate interest.
The 16-year-old has often been named among the substitutes in Serie A this season, but hasn’t made an appearance yet.
Plizzari signed for AC Milan on a youth contract in 2016, and has another 18 months left on his deal. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the player must make a decision on his future soon.
Plizzari could renew his contract at AC Milan, but must accept Donnarumma is clearly the first choice option, or switch clubs. Gazzetta say Manchester City scouts had a closer look at Plizzari last summer, and his performances at youth level haven’t gone unnoticed.
In fact, Manchester City took an early initiative to make a €2m offer, but the offer was rejected by Adriano Galliani.
It’s been reported Plizzari is quite close to AC Milan, but could consider switching clubs as Donnarumma is preferred ahead of him.
