Despite the goalkeeper having a contract lasting until June 2023, Mundo Deportivo report Neto has ‘decided to leave’ Barcelona and will play his last match for the Blaugrana at the weekend.

With Marc-Andre ter Stegen going under the knife to cure a longstanding issue, and subsequently missing the end of this season and Euro 2020, Neto will start the match against Eibar on Saturday.

The Catalan newspaper report that Neto wanted to leave the Camp Nou in January, with a move to Arsenal said to have been possible. However, Ronald Koeman blocked the winter transfer, to make sure his Barcelona side were covered for the rest of the current season.

According to the report, Arsenal could again be a possibility, but there’s no claims of new contact or an offer from Mikel Arteta’s side. Barcelona will surely be looking for a transfer fee for Neto, yet Mundo Deportivo don’t suggest what amount of money would be requested.

Despite that, the goodbye is seen as certain.
