AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker is a transfer target for Real Madrid and Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Earlier today, we carried a report from Marca that the Brazil international has long been identified as candidate to challenge Keylor Navas for a place in Real’s starting lineup. The Champions League winners were also aware of interest from the Merseyside club.
Liverpool were believed to be “very close” to the transfer situation and Jurgen Klopp’s side were ready to pay whatever the Serie A outfit wants for Alisson. There has been a new twist in the saga now.
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Alisson’s agent Zé Maria has met the top officials of Real Madrid. He has made it clear that he will leave Roma for the Spanish capital club or stay where he is, the headline says he’ll decide ‘today’.
It’s claimed the 25-year-old has refused to join Liverpool because he has no plans to play in the Premier League. Alisson is not worried about the competition he will face from Navas and believes Real’s style of play will suit him.
Whilst the goalkeeper may well prefer Real Madrid over Liverpool, it’s very easy to doubt he’s ruled out the move entirely. Mundo Deportivo have had some big Alisson claims, indeed it was they who started the story of a €65m Liverpool offer.
We’re not entirely convinced on either claim.
