Neal Maupay has been edging out of Brighton & Hove Albion for much of the summer window, with the club clearly open to selling the attacker.
The 26-year-old signed for the Seagulls in 2019 from Brentford and made an impact at the club. His contract expires in June 2023, so with less than a year to go, it’s a situation where either a renewal needed to be secured or an exit arranged to make sure Brighton didn’t lose out on transfer income.
Everton have been looking to add a new attacker for much of the summer, and have been linked with several options. It now appears Frank Lampard has found his solution in the Premier League, taking advantage of Maupay’s situation with Brighton.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports the player is currently ‘undergoing a medical’ with the Toffees and is expected to sign a contract which will last for three years, and have the option of a further season after that.
Lampard will hope Maupay can use the move as a kickstart for his career, and get back to finding the net regularly.
