Over the past few weeks, with the uncertainty surrounding Edinson Cavani’s future and the rumours that a few clubs are interested in Anthony Martial, Manchester United have been linked to strikers.
It’s not an area of need right now, but it’s one they certainly know could become one if the aforementioned duo end up at new clubs, which is why we are seeing these articles.
Yesterday saw Manchester United mentioned next to Dusan Vlahovic’s name, and now it’s the turn of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Admittedly, the Nigeria international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past, with his performances this season catching the eye of many clubs, including the Red Devils.
Gazzetta dello Sport reiterate this on Thursday, explaining that ‘assuming he was transferable, Aurelio De Laurentiis would expect no less than €110m’ for his star striker.
Described as a ‘reality of Serie A’, Osimhen is a ‘striker who creates confusion between the opposing defences’ and ‘has already attracted the attention of the two Manchester clubs and Paris Saint-Germain’.
This means Manchester City and Manchester United are both keeping an eye on the situation, with the former of the two still reeling from their failure to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.
As for the Old Trafford side, they currently have Cristiano Ronaldo for the next two seasons, but everyone knows he will also need to be replaced at some point.
