Jonathan David has impressed for Lille this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, and his fine form has seen him attract Liverpool’s attention.
The French club progressed to the next round of the Champions League after topping their group table. They sealed a 3-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg on Wednesday and the striker got his name on the scoresheet in Germany.
L’Equipe on Thursday take a look at the Ligue 1 side’s form this season and focus on their defence and attack. For the latter, they point out the ‘powerful attacking duo’ of the 21-year-old and Burak Yılmaz.
Lille have scored seven goals in the Champions League and three of them have come from the Canada international.
The ex-Gent star managed 13 goals in all competitions last term and has already surpassed that tally this season.
The newspaper states David has ‘taken a next step’ at Lille and that has resulted in him attracting attention from the Reds. It’s claimed the player is ‘courted by Liverpool’.
Two days ago, Jeunes Footeux reported that Lille president Olivier Létang will need an offer of ‘at least €55m’ to let David leave next summer.
With Jürgen Klopp’s side following David, they will have enough time until the end of the season to decide whether or not to meet the fee requested by Létang for the transfer.
