According to a claim in the Turkish media, Southampton defender Joshua Quarshie could be loaned out to Goztepe just days after signing for the English side.
Last week the 20-year-old signed for the Saints from German club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for a reported transfer fee of €3m.
Southampton and Goztepe are both owned by Sport Republic and this has seen Saints players being transferred or loaned to the Turkish club in past windows. It’s claimed Quarshie could be the next Southampton player to head to Turkey on a loan deal.
Yeni Asir today report Goztepe are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season and will focus on defence.
After securing their place in their first season back in the Super Lig, the Izmir side want to kick on next season and subsequently want to bring in new players.
Quarshie has now emerged as a target for Goztepe despite only signing for Southampton last Friday. It’s reported the player would first complete pre-season training in England before heading to the Turkish club.
The young central defender made 15 2.Bundesliga appearances this season whilst on loan with SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
