Two days ago, Het Nieuwsblad reported West Ham United are preparing a second bid to sign Hans Vanaken after Club Brugge rejected their initial offer of €10m.
David Moyes is a long-time fan of the 29-year-old and the Hammers tried signing him for the first time in 2020.
West Ham are back again for the attacking midfielder and have a firm desire to secure his services this summer.
The Belgian champions are reluctant to let go of their star, especially at this stage of the transfer window.
A latest report from Het Nieuwsblad states Club Brugge are firm with their stance that the Belgium international cannot leave this summer, despite the concrete interest and offer made by the Premier League side. They realise losing him ‘cannot even be talked about’.
After rejecting West Ham’s proposal in 2020, the Jupiler Pro League winners offered the player a new contract until 2025. They plan to do that again, this time by extending his deal by a further year [2026], with improved conditions.
It is too early for Vanaken to ‘make peace’ with that because he ‘continues to hope for a transfer’ to Moyes’ side. He wants to step up and play in the Premier League, and land a better deal at the same time.
Het Nieuwsblad state the Belgian hopes West Ham’s improved bid ‘will soon come in’ and that it can convince Club Brugge.
It’ll be interesting to see what Vanaken’s employer will do if and when the Hammers make a new bid to sign him.
