Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has told the Dutch media he will return to the English club in the summer. Krul is currently on loan with Eredivisie club AZ from Newcastle United.
Speaking to Omroepwest, ahead of his return to his former club Ado Den Haag at the weekend, Krul was asked about his future. The Newcastle United owned player revealed he’s spoken to Rafael Benitez with regards to getting games under his belt, and regaining his form. Krul went on to say he will be back at Newcastle United after his spell with AZ, simply because he’s contracted to the club.
“I’ve been speaking to Rafa Benitez. I’m just getting the minutes and working to get back to my top level. I’m still under contract at Newcastle, so that’s where I’ll go in the summer,” said Krul.
Despite Krul saying he will return to Newcastle United at the end of the season the Netherlands international could find it difficult to force his way back into Benitez’s starting eleven. The Newcastle United boss brought in Matz Sels from Gent in the summer, whilst Karl Darlow is the Spaniard’s current first choice. Krul hasn’t been in the best of form since joining AZ, and conceded five against Feyenoord on Sunday.
