Here’s another transfer saga coming to an end.
As widely reported by the Argentine press on Friday morning, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is leaving Boca Juniors and moving to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The player was supposed to be loaned to the Buenos Aires side until next summer, but now that he had his work permit sorted, the Seagulls have worked to bring him to England as soon as possible.
Outlet Marca reports that the clubs have reached an agreement, with Brighton paying Boca Juniors a fee of US$1m to take the player now.
However, now with his move confirmed, it seems he’s changed his opinion a little. In an Instagram post, he’s claimed it’s a great opportunity for him to be moving to the Seagulls.
“Dear Boca fans, I want to tell you that despite having been at the club for only six months, I have a great affection for all of you because you made me feel as if my whole life I had played for this great club. Today I have to say goodbye and I want to thank the officials of the institution for giving me this opportunity to take advantage of this special work permit to play in one of the best leagues in the world. It was very difficult for me to make this decision, but perhaps it’s an opportunity that is unrepeatable because of the community passport. The clubs reached an agreement thanks to Boca’s understanding and this gives me the opportunity to start my international career. See you soon!”
