On Monday, we covered claims from Belgium that Luton Town are set to overcome tough competition from Leeds United to sign Sint-Truiden’s Daiki Hashioka. It was also said the 24-year-old has agreed terms with the Hatters.
Later that day, Luton Town manager Rob Edwards told the local media that his side are interested in the right-back, but “nothing has been agreed yet” for his transfer.
Tuesday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg provides a short update and it should please Luton Town fans.
It’s claimed the Belgian club have already reached an agreement with the Premier League side for a fee of around €2m for Hashioka’s transfer.
This allowed the fullback to make a trip to England, where he ‘completed his medical’ tests with Luton Town on Monday. The newspaper adds that as of yesterday evening, the ‘last commas still had to be filled’ in the Japan international’s contract with Luton Town.
To sum it up, Hashioka’s move to the English club should go through soon and as of now, only the official announcement is missing.
Hashioka has managed two goals and two assists from 19 games for STVV this season.
