Huddersfield Town are close to keeping Chris Willock at the club for the upcoming season, according to claims from the Portuguese media today.

Newspaper O Jogo writes that the Terriers are currently in talks with Benfica to extend the player’s spell in England.

Willock should now move to Huddersfield on another loan deal, and there’s a chance of a buying option being included this time.

O Jogo sounds very confident about the negotiations, saying the 22-year-old is ‘on his way’ back to England, and it should just be a matter of time until the deal is announced.

Willock joined Huddersfield back in January on a six-month loan spell. He made 14 appearances and scored two goals for the Terriers.

The winger is currently in Lisbon, where he’ll train with Benfica’s squad until the clubs finalise his future.

Willock left England to join the Eagles back in 2017, but never had a chance to play for them, only featuring for the B team. He has a contract with the Portuguese side until 2022.
