Patrice Evra is still dragging out his decision on whether to join Crystal Palace or not. Turin newspaper Tuttosport say in their Thursday edition Evra is ready to evaluate offers from ‘other clubs obviously more highly placed than the Eagles of Croydon’.
There’s every chance Evra would get on great with Sam Allardyce, and that could go in Crystal Palace’s favour. However, at 35 years of age, and given the career Evra has had, the chance of relegation with Palace probably isn’t so appealing.
French newspaper L’Equipe were more confident about Crystal Palace’s chance on Wednesday, and Tuttosport don’t rule it out, it’s presented as the standout destination right now, but there seems to be a feeling Evra is stalling things to give others the chance to come in. As it stands Evra is ‘close’ to joining Crystal Palace, but no so close he’s committing yet.
Earlier this week the player’s agent said Evra needed ‘a week to ten days’ to make his mind up about his future. At the outside of that range it takes everyone involved to January 26th.
It may not help that Crystal Palace face an in-form Everton on the 21st.
It’s not just Palace waiting, Juventus want to sign Sead Kolasinac from Schalke. The player’s contract ends in June, so Juve can get him for free, but if Evra goes they’d want Kolasinac to come during the current window.
