There’s a bit of fuss in the Mexican media over Hector Herrera joining Arsenal.
Herrera has a contract ending in June and there have been countless claims recently on a potential transfer. There hasn’t been anything especially concrete, including for Arsenal, but Mexican newspaper El Sol get all excited in their Wednesday edition and lead readers to believe it’s happening.
El Sol state: ‘HERRERA WOULD BE CLOSE TO ARSENAL – Hector Herrera’s novel with Porto continues to offer chapters that comment on whether he will stay or not for the next campaign, for now the press in Portugal says that Arsenal would be interested in their services. The A Bola newspaper published a note in its pages stating that Herrera’s departure is imminent and his next destination would be meeting with the Gunners.’
That’s very strong stuff. Herrera ‘close’ to Arsenal and a transfer being ‘imminent’, surely meaning the midfielder would move in January.
However, we went and checked out what A Bola have actually said, which is: ‘Herrera returned yesterday to be placed on the radar of a giant of Europe. According to the English newspaper The Sun, the Gunners reactivated the interest in the Mexican midfielder (they already had him on the list of purchases last June).
The player is seen by coach Unai Emery as a player with the right profile to succeed Aaron Ramsey, an international Welshman that Milan has been pursuing for some time. The British, still according to the same publication, will try to take Herrera in January.’
The Sun will just be carrying on earlier rumours, but there’s nothing to back up El Sol’s claims of a move being close and imminent.
