On Thursday, journalist Sacha Tavolieri explained that Lille’s Amadou Onana wants to go to Everton this summer.

This claim was backed up in Belgium later that day and it was explained the Toffees had matched West Ham United’s bid to sign the midfielder.

Journalist Saber Desfarges took to Twitter on Friday to state Everton are ahead of West Ham in the transfer race.

The Merseyside club managed to push ahead by finding an agreement with the Ligue 1 side to sign the 20-year-old.

The deal agreed between the two sides is worth €36m plus an additional €4m as potential bonus payments. In addition to this, Onana ‘chose Everton’ over David Moyes’ side.

The deal to take the Belgium international to the Goodison Park is ‘almost completed’. Contractual details need to be settled between Frank Lampard’s side and Onana.

Operating as a defensive midfielder and in the middle of the pitch, Onana managed three goals and an assist from 41 matches in all competitions last season.
