Leeds United were keen on signing 1. FC Koln’s Dejan Ljubicic in the summer window, but the deal didn’t go through.

The midfielder was determined to join Leeds and was pushing for a move to Elland Road.

The transfer eventually collapsed after Daniel Farke’s side pulled the plug because the price was doubled and many people got involved during the negotiations.

Back in August, claims from Germany had stated the 27-year-old was left shattered over the failure to secure a move to Leeds.

Fast forward to December and Friday’s edition of Bild mentions Ljubicic’s collapsed move to the Championship side when covering the player’s current situation at Koln.

Earlier this week, the Austria international scored the winner in the 120th minute in his side’s 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin in the DFB-Pokal.

It’s claimed Ljubicic went through a difficult period after not securing a move to Leeds. He was also sidelined for a few weeks earlier this season partly due to illness.

The midfielder has now become a hero for Koln by scoring the late winner in the German cup competition, and the German media are presenting it as something of a turnaround moment.
