Former Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine coach Mykola Pavlov has backed Vitaliy Mykolenko to be a hit at Everton, believing his ‘prospects are good’ on Merseyside.

The Ukrainian youngster is seemingly on the verge of a move to Goodison Park, with various reports stating the Blues are closing to tying a €21m plus deal for the full-back.

He’s already travelled to Merseyside for a medical and is currently in Ukraine waiting for the deal to be finalised, with that expected to happen early on in January.

He will arrive at Everton as the likely replacement for Lucas Digne, who appears to be on his way out of the club following a disagreement with manager Rafa Benitez.

That’s prompted exit talk and clubs such as Inter Milan and Juventus showing interest, with Mykolenko’s impending arrival hinting there could be something in talk of an exit.

The young Ukrainian will be making a big step up with the move to Everton, and there have already been some comments suggesting it might be too soon for him.

Those were rubbished by former coach Myron Markevych and now another former Ukraine coach, Mykola Pavlov, has echoed those sentiments.

“Of course, it’s nice that such a club is interested in our footballer,” Sport UA report him saying.

“Of course, I am pleased that the Dynamo Kyiv player will continue his career in England. This speaks of the good work of the team’s coach, namely the coach of Kyiv, Mircea Lucescu.

“If such a sum is paid for Vitaly, then, probably, they are counting on him in the Liverpool club. In any case, I think Mykolenko’s prospects are good.”
