Ousmane Dembélé could be an option for Chelsea if the west London club fail to sign Leeds United star Raphinha this summer.

The Blues have already made an offer to the Whites and it has reportedly been accepted by the latter.

However, the deal cannot be sealed because the Brazilian is keen to join Barcelona, the same club where Dembélé had a contract until yesterday.

The former Borussia Dortmund man is a free agent from today and it is not clear where he will play next season. Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo explains the winger still has an option to continue at the Camp Nou.

Dembélé’s agent Moussa Sissoko had a meeting with Barca on Monday, where he made it clear his client will not be accepting their latest renewal offer.

Despite officially parting ways, Mundo state the Blaugrana could look to sign him again, if they fail to bring in another attacker and if the France international doesn’t manage to find a new club before mid-July.

Meanwhile, the player is ‘aware of the interest’ from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but without that going any further. The Blues and the Ligue 1 winners ‘follow’ Dembélé.

Since the Frenchman will be available on a free transfer this summer, Dembélé could be a ‘cheaper option’ for Chelsea [and Barcelona] than Raphinha in the current window.
