Arsenal and Aston Villa are today named as the strongest clubs in the race for Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee.
The latest update on the 22-year-old’s future is brought by outlet Inter Live, who highlight the Nerazzurri’s wish to sign the 22-year-old, and the difficulties they’ve been finding.
Bologna know Zirkzee is worth a lot, and are said to be demanding €60m for his sale. That’s considered a big obstacle for Inter Milan, and there’s frustration that it’s not the same for others.
The situation is different for the Premier League clubs, and that’s why the report claims the player is ‘between Aston Villa and Arsenal’, as they can both afford that amount.
It’s said Zirkzee himself would prefer a stay in the Serie A, but unless Bologna lower their demands, Italian clubs are unlikely to get him.
On that point, the Italian media routinely claim players want to stay in Italy but there’s not often a lot to back it up.
There could be also Bayern Munich in the battle, as the German side can sign him back for just €40m. However, the report claims neither the Bundesliga side nor the player want that.
That definitely places Arsenal and Aston Villa ahead, and they could now have an interesting tussle for him.
