Chris Smalling has been one of the key players in AS Roma’s defence since joining the Serie A side on a dry loan deal from Manchester United.

Roma have suffered defeats at the hands of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Parma in the last few days.

After the latest defeat in the league on Sunday, the defender told Sky Italia (as relayed by Corriere dello Sport) his side need to bounce back after the international break.

When asked about his future, Smalling said: “Right now my concern is to have a good season. In addition to this, we want to qualify for the Champions League and want to win a trophy.”

Tiziano Pasquali was the intermediary who built the move for the player to leave Manchester United in the summer.

Earlier this month, Pasquali told Tele Radio Stereo there’s “willingness” from United and Roma to negotiate for a permanent transfer and the 29-year-old is also happy to continue in Rome.

On November 7th, we covered claims from Il Tempo and Il Romanista, who explained Paulo Fonseca’s have already submitted a first offer to the Red Devils and the United owned player is also willing to take a pay cut to extend his stay with the Giallorossi.
