Before Julian Alvarez finally completes his move to Manchester City, he’s set to play one final game for River Plate tonight.
The Millonario have a big Copa Libertadores clash against Velez Sarsfield, and after a 1-0 defeat away from home in the round-of-16’s first leg, it’s time to fight for qualification in front of their fans.
Now as TyC Sports talks about Alvarez’s farewell before joining Manchester City, they point out a couple of goals the player could have in his final match for River Plate.
One of them is to become the club’s top scorer in the Marcello Gallardo era, which has been going on since 2014.
The youngster has 54 goals so far, and could surpass Rafael Santos Borré, who scored 55.
Alvarez, who has 14 goals in Copa Libertadores since his debut, could also score for the first time in the knock-out stage, as he’s only found the net in the group phase so far.
The striker has 17 goals and six assists in 23 appearances for River Plate this season, and managed to keep up his good form since being bought by Manchester City.
Now he prepares to say goodbye in the best way possible.
