Following the termination of his contract with Leeds United, it seems goalkeeper Kiko Casilla already has a new club to play for.

In Spain, Cadena SER reports that the 35-year-old is joining Getafe. There are no details on his contract with the La Liga side for now.

Casilla, who was barely being used at Leeds, was released by the club this month, with the Whites guaranteeing the signing of Joel Robles to replace him behind Illan Meslier.

According to SER, the Elland Road side’s new signing is what ‘accelerated’ the operation for the Spaniard to be released and get to a deal with Getafe.

Casilla joined Leeds in January 2019 on a move from Real Madrid. In his time with the Whites, he made 62 appearances, conceding 61 goals and keeping 23 clean sheets.

The goalkeeper, however, ended up losing his starting place in the team. That’s why in the summer of 2021, he was loaned to Elche, and spent the whole season in Spain.

Having barely returned to England and terminated his contract, he has agreed a new move back to his home country, this time in a long-term project.
