Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has admitted he is loving life “under the radar” at the Championship club.
The goalkeeper is currently on international duty with Sweden, where he sat down for an interview with Afton Bladet about his career so far and life with the The Millers.
Johansson has been with Rotherham since joining them on a free transfer from Leicester City’s U21s in September 2020.
He’s since been a regular for them, making 92 appearances in all competitions as they have competed in the Championship and League One.
His performances have earned him international recognition too, with Janne Andersson calling him up for this international break, when he could be set to make his debut for the senior side after featuring for Sweden’s U18, U19, U20 and U20 sides since 2016.
He’s undoubtedly finding life at Rotherham perfectly suited to his needs, and admits that the fact he can be under the radar has worked out for him.
“I think it has been very good for me personally,” he told the newspaper.
“There hasn’t been any pressure, I’ve just stuck my head down and been driven, so I buy that people don’t have a clue.
“I have chosen not to go out much in the media either, but have enjoyed being under the radar there at the beginning of my career.
“Now I’m in a club where we get a lot of shots at us and get to show what we can do. I like that responsibility and love being able to be a stable piece at the back that people trust and feel safe and calm with me.
“I enjoy the club incredibly well and feel at home. Even when I moved here, I felt that this is the club for me. It’s small, the staff are absolutely incredible and it’s a very family club without egos.”
