Back in March, we covered claims made in Italy discussing Manchester City interest in AC Milan star Rafael Leão.
It was also explained that Pep Guardiola is a long-time admirer of the forward, from the player’s time at Sporting.
Earlier in June, Pianeta Milan reported the Serie A winners were struggling to extend the 23-year-old’s contract due to Manchester City’s interest. He didn’t move away from Milan in the summer window and has not yet signed a new deal at the San Siro.
The Portugal international has extended his impressive form into this season, and has three goals and four assists from seven matches in all competitions. It’s no surprise to see that several important clubs continue to follow him.
That’s according to Calciomercato and they name only Manchester City in their report. They state the player is ‘very much liked’ by Guardiola’s side.
Leão’s deal expires in 2024 and recent claims have said Milan are working to extend his contract. City’s interest could complicate their efforts or at least put him in a firm position to demand a better package from the Italian champions.
