Over the past two weeks, we’ve covered multiple reports about Arsenal’s pursuit of Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.

On Friday, Corriere di Bologna reported the defender will start pre-season training if the Gunners can’t agree a deal quickly with the Serie A side.

A day later, Il Resto del Carlino said the 22-year-old, who has agreed a deal with Arsenal, is urging the club to sanction his sale.

Corriere dello Sport, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, reports a ‘tug-of-war continues’ between the north London club and Bologna this week.

The Italy international ‘absolutely wants’ to move to the Premier League, where he has found an agreement with Arsenal. He’s waiting for the two clubs to find an agreement.

Bologna continue to demand €50m in fixed fee plus bonuses for the centre-back, while Mikel Arteta’s side are trying to reach this figure including bonuses.

The English club are trying to take advantage of their agreement with Calafiori, to put pressure on his club to lower their demand. Arsenal’s attempts haven’t worked out so far.

Bologna are ‘adamant’, and have informed both the player and his agent that he’ll only leave if there’s an offer of €50m plus bonuses. It’s now down to the Gunners to improve their offer to get this deal over the line.
