Jonjoe Kenny is set to play his last game for Hertha Berlin, say goodbye, and then return to England with Sheffield United, who want him ‘immediately’.

That’s according to BILD, who say the full back will be returning to English football with Sheffield United imminently.

Kenny has been one of Hertha’s most consistent players since his arrival at the club and this has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.

Sheffield United are keen to sign him and have moved to secure his signature this month ahead of him being available on a free in the summer.

Berlin are happy to take a fee now, around €1m, and save five months of salary in the process. Kenny is among the big earners at the club, and they’d save around €500,000.

The defender has also made the decision to make and accept Sheffield United’s offer. That’s led to a plan being drawn up which will see Kenn play against HSV on Saturday in his last game, then say goodbye to the fans before moving to Sheffield United.

That’s all-in place, with Hertha already seeking a replacement. They’ll be left short at right back and left-back, where Kenny has been filling in this season. Work is already underway on that front.

That means there’s no impediments to his move to Sheffield United, who want him ‘immediately’ as they look to bolster their promotion campaign.
