While yet to be made official, the general consensus is that Chelsea will sign Cesare Casadei from Inter in the next few days.
Claims that a medical is set to take place soon have already emerged after Inter were convinced by the Blues’ latest offer of €15m + €5m in bonuses.
Corriere dello Sport cover the last few bits of the deal on Wednesday, explaining that Chelsea had already tried to include Casadei in the deal taking Romelu Lukaku back to the San Siro, but that didn’t interest the Serie A side.
They wanted cash for the 19-year-old midfielder, which they eventually got, as the Blues look to the future with this particular deal.
We say this because Corriere go out of their way to report the midfielder, who will sign for Chelsea until 2028, should initially have ‘a place in the U23 team’ at Stamford Bridge.
That being said, they do predict ‘the transition to the first-team shouldn’t take long’, as the potential is clearly there for him to earn himself a rotation spot going forward.
In fact, the fact ‘Thomas Tuchel was also conquered by his qualities’ means the German is looking forward to working with Casadei as soon as he arrives.
