Over the past few months, all the stories in Italy sounded like Juventus were pretty confident that they could land Emre Can from Liverpool soon.

Out of contract at the end of the season and with no intention to renew it (at least as far as it was thought in Italy), it seemed like it was just a matter of time until the 23 year old German midfielder signed for the Old Lady.

But with the transfer window approaching, there’s some competition to join this race, and the Turin newspapers have started to admit the fight may be harder than expected.

Tuttosport has an article today saying that Juve and Inter Milan are fighting between themselves for several players, and Can is one of them.

That’s why it’s so important for the Old Lady to guarantee the player as soon as possible, after so many months in the chase. That’s the Juve plan, but plans don’t always go the way expected.

Even Manchester City are mentioned in the story, as Pep Guardiola’s side ‘couldn’t be ruled out’ of the race, even though there aren’t any details on a possible approach or offer for Can.

As the midfielder ‘keeps saying no’ to Liverpool’s renewal offers, it seems his list of options for the future is growing, and should get even bigger next year.
