Seemingly on the verge of signing Thilo Kehrer from Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham United are also in talks to sign a defender from the Premier League.

That’s according to French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who took to Twitter to report that despite being a target for OGC Nice in Ligue 1, Emerson Palmieri, currently at Chelsea, is ‘very close’ to the Hammers.

Loaned to Lyon last season, where he was a first-team regular, the Italy international returned to Stamford Bridge this summer where he doesn’t really have a future.

That’s why a new landing spot was being looked for, and it seems he might not have to move very far, if at all (at least house wise), should he head to West Ham.

Genuardi adds that from the Hammers’ side of things, there is ‘optimism’ regarding the signing of the Chelsea player following their recent agreement for the purchase of the aforementioned Kehrer.

The formula of the deal taking Emerson Palmieri from the Blues to West Ham isn’t revealed, but with a contract running out at Stamford Bridge in 2024, a loan is certainly doable.

Something to keep an eye on.
