Roméo Lavia brought his two-year spell at Manchester City to an end when he sealed a permanent move to Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The Belgium international has made seven appearances for the Saints this season as a hamstring injury forced him to spend close to two months on the sidelines.

Whenever the midfielder has been on the pitch, he has starred for Southampton, so much so that he has attracted Chelsea’s interest.

That’s according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who took to Twitter to state the 18-year-old is ‘targeted by the Blues’.

Graham Potter has multiple midfield options at his disposal and that includes N’Golo Kanté. The 31-year-old Frenchman has been struggling with injuries and has a deal until the end of this campaign.

It’s unclear whether Kanté will be at Chelsea beyond June 2023, but the west London club have already identified the Southampton player as a transfer target. Tavolieri adds Lavia is in the ‘sights of Chelsea’, to possibly replace the Frenchman.

The Belgian’s contract at Southampton expires in 2027 and Chelsea will have to spend big if they wish to take the teenager away from St Mary’s.
