From Valencia comes a Shkodran Mustafi update which will surely please Arsenal fans. Plaza Deportiva say they’ve had it confirmed to them that Valencia owner Peter Lim has flown from Barcelona, where he was apparently on other business, to London to conclude the defender’s transfer.

Plaza say that Lim has taken his private jet to London and is scheduled to meet directly with Arsene Wenger to close a transfer. No exact price is mentioned, but Plaza say it’s expected to exceed €30m.

There’s every chance that Lim is flying to London to bypass the way the transfer had been working. Whilst the English media had been reporting a deal as close, in Valencia the line was there’d been no official offer.

Then a man claiming to be Mustafi’s agent was quoted in Germany as saying personal terms were agreed, and then he put new quotes out which rubbished the earlier ones. That was then followed by Mustafi’s father telling Super Deporte that there were no Arsenal talks, before telling the German media that talks were going well.

Lim bypassing all that, and going straight to Arsenal, seems a pretty good idea.
