While Marcelo Bielsa is universally loved at Leeds United, and rightly so given his achievements so far, it’s a different matter outside of Elland Road.
To say the Argentine is a divisive figure would be putting it lightly, with opinion very much divided on him wherever you go.
On one side of the fence, there are those that believe the Leeds boss is a bonafide genius and legend of the game, an opinion that several top coaches around the world would be happy to go along with.
On the other side sit those who are less than impressed, with numerous former employers and players having spoken out against the Leeds icon down the years.
Much of it comes down to Bielsa’s way of doing things, with his specific style and way of managing either winning love or creating dislike.
And for Wesley Jobello, who played under Bielsa during his time in charge of Marseille, it is definitely the latter.
“Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of Bielsa,” he told FootMercato.
“At the beginning, we were told that all the young players would start again before the professionals to do a mini-detection over a week. I’ve never seen that.
“At the end of the week, we had no results. With time we realised that he was testing his exercises on the youngsters to do them with the pros.
“The best ones were showing the pros. Sometimes I was there, and when the pros came, I stood aside and watched.”
