With less than a week left of the transfer window, Wesley Moraes has not yet managed to get a move away from Aston Villa as his immediate future is believed to be away from the Premier League side.

Dean Smith’s side paid around €25m to Club Brugge in 2019 to acquire the striker’s services, but their investment hasn’t paid off, partly due to the serious injury he suffered in January 2020.

Having regained full fitness, the 24-year-old was restricted to only three substitute appearances in the league last season.

Thursday’s edition of Het Nieuwsblad explains Villa are ‘willing’ to send the Brazilian out on loan and his wish is to return to the Jupiler Pro League side, where he ‘hopes that he can make a new start’ at his old club.

Wesley is currently looking for a new club and his ‘personal preference’ is to join Club Brugge.

At the Belgium side, there are questions over his potential return due to the ‘doubts’ about his physical condition and also the cost of the deal, presumably his wages.

Meanwhile, Club Brugge have Bas Dost, Daniel Pérez and Youssouph Badji as three attackers in the squad, making it even more difficult for them to accommodate Wesley.

To sum it up, Club Brugge are not convinced over signing Wesley, due to sporting and financial reasons.
