Jeremy Toljan was one of Germany U21’s most reliable players at the Euro U21 championship this summer, when he helped his country to win the title – including a great performance in the final, when he managed to keep Marco Asensio quiet.

Due to his displays last season, Toljan has been on the radar of several top European clubs in recent weeks. Two weeks ago, Sport Bild magazine mentioned interest from Chelsea, SSC Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur and even Real Madrid. At the time it seemed Tottenham were the most serious contenders to sign the youngster.

Tottenham could still be in the market for a right back, after Kyle Walker signed for Manchester city earlier in the window.

Toljan is able to cover both sides of the defence, so he could be even more valuable for Tottenham given the Danny Rose situation.

Moreover, Toljan wouldn’t be so expensive. His current contract at Hoffenheim expires next year and if the German club wants to get a good fee for him, they need to sell him during the summer transfer window.

Kicker magazine have now reported Borussia Dortmund ‘want to improve the quality on their wing-back positions’ and Toljan is being watched by their representatives.

Kicker adds that Dortmund could have a decent chance to buy him – mainly due to the fact that he could leave next summer on a free. For Tottenham, it’s a perfect situation to step in, selling to Spurs would be preferable for Hoffenheim.
