Marcos Asensio has played 31 matches for Real Madrid so far this season, scoring six goals and adding five assists in the process.
The problem for him is that he rarely completes full matches and many of his appearances have been from the bench. With a contract expiring at the end of the current season, there’s obviously been a lot of talk about his future.
Estadio Deportivo take a look at the situation and point out there’s been links with Arsenal and AC Milan. Both the Gunners and the Rossoneri ‘would be perfect for him’, according to the report.
Moving to somewhere like Arsenal, it’s said, would allow Asensio to have more regular minutes and starts. That would firstly solve the situation for him at club level, but also keep him in contention for the Spanish national side.
However, despite what Estadio Deportivo say, a move to Arsenal certainly wouldn’t guarantee Asensio being a nailed on starter. Mikel Arteta’s side are very well placed to win the Premier League, and there’s no obvious player for the Spaniard to fully replace.
The chance of signing him as a free agent may be attractive to Arsenal, but if the player wants to be a near guaranteed starter somewhere then it’s unlikely to be the best solution.
