Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali returned to action for club and country some weeks ago after a long-term ban.
His impact in midfield is already being felt by the Magpies, with Tonali having played five times in the Premier League so far and also becoming a regular for Italy over the past month.
While Newcastle seem pretty satisfied with the Italian, it doesn’t seem as if Milan have moved on from losing Tonali. That is especially true after the leadership abilities of Theo Hernandez have come into question after the loss to Fiorentina.
Journalist Marco Cattaneo spoke to MilanNews yesterday about the leadership abilities of Rossoneri players and he stated that Tonali was the ‘perfect’ leader for the club.
Tonali is Milan through and through and he had previously rejected the idea of joining Inter, taking a wage-cut to arrive at the Rossoneri.
While he never captained Milan and is yet to even captain Newcastle, he is still 24 and has so much more to come in his career.
Things can only improve and even though Tonali isn’t the most vocal character, he can lead by example through his performances for the Magpies.
AC Milan will have to continue to regret the sale.
