A couple of days ago we brought a report from German magazine SportBild which said Real Madrid aren’t really interested in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The 27 year old has repeatedly made clear his desire for a move to Madrid and therefore Zinedine Zidane not being too bothered would come as something of a blow.

SportBild said Manchester City and PSG are still interested in the player, and therefore Real Madrid’s decision to not pursue Aubameyang would be a boost to both Pep Guardiola and Rudi Garcia.

One less club as competition, and specifically the club Aubameyang has dreamed of signing for, would make it much easier for Manchester City.

On Friday Bild have an interview with Borussia Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke, and the talk of course came around to Aubameyang and a potential transfer: “I do not think there are many clubs to which Auba wants to go… In football there are always, regardless of the name, pain thresholds. But we do not deal with this issue.”

Therefore Dortmund aren’t prepared to keep Aubameyang at any cost. That’s another boost for Guardiola and Manchester City, if their reported interest in the player is real.
