Jurgen Locadia moved from PSV to Brighton & Hove Albion last week for what was an undisclosed fee. As often happens with transfers out of the Netherlands, De Telegraaf quickly learned what the fee actually was.

Brighton have paid €17m for Locadia and will have to pay bonuses on top of that. Then, when Brighton come to selling the player, hopefully for a nice profit, PSV will be entitled to a percentage of the deal.

Locadia has been speaking to the same newspaper about his dream move to the Premier League and sounds excited by what he’s found at Brighton: “The people are so nice. The whole country breathes football. Everything is different than what I am used to. It just feels good. The training complex has only been there for four years. The facilities are great.”

When quizzed about his transfer fee, the new Brighton player was straight to the point: “I don’t determine the price, do you?”

The 24 year old is currently out injured and was asked when he expects to be able to feature for his new club: “I hope faster than planned. I am already very far in my rehabilitation and hope to be able to play in a few weeks. After the game I spoke with the management and trainer Chris Hughton. They know that I can handle multiple positions, but I think that I can mainly focus on the position of second striker. That’s me. I think that with my actions, shooting and footballing skills I can add something to this team.”

PSV waved Locadia off with much pride and also a little sadness. As is often the case with big Eredivisie exits, the footballer will be expected to return to show his appreciation to the fans and so they can thank him too.

Asked about a goodbye and his exit, Locadia explained: “No, but that will come. I now really realise what I owe to PSV. I have played there for more than seven years. It was not that I wanted to leave. It would have also been fine to finish the season, because we were doing well. And I myself. But the Premier League, come on! I’m really looking forward to it.”
