Chelsea star Willian has been interviewed by the Brazilian media once again this week. From his home in London, he spoke to Sportv journalist Mauricio Noriega.
It’s been nearly two weeks since Willian returned to England. He says he left his wife and children in Brazil, and will keep them there until the Premier League takes a decision about when to return.
Speaking of playing again, Willian has claimed that Chelsea players are not eager to return unless they feel it’s completely safe to do so.
“Honestly, what I see is that many players, I think the majority, they’re not comfortable with playing at the moment. We know, we really want to go back, we really miss playing, doing what we like to do. But we have to return safely, this is our thinking. I think health comes first. So players at the moment are not comfortable coming back, until there is security.”
Willian has also been asked about rumours about his future. It’s been claimed he’s met Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho in the last week, and the player says there’s no way it could have happened.
“It’s funny because I got here, and when you come from outside the country, you have to be in isolation. You have to be quarantined. So to this day, I’m still not leaving home. And when I saw that news, I was surprised. I said ‘where did people get this from?’ Because I didn’t even talk to him on the phone, and I didn’t meet him either, because I didn’t leave the house. So this news is not really true. I didn’t meet him. Of course I have a good friendship with him, sometimes we chat. But really, lately I haven’t had any contact with Mourinho.”
The winger also claimed he’s looking to stay in Europe for a few more years, as he doesn’t plan to return to Brazil so soon. In case he does, he says his former club Corinthians are his priority, but he ‘can’t close doors to other sides’.
