It’s now been a month since Facundo Pellistri completed his move from Peñarol to Manchester United, but the transfer is still a big thing in Uruguay.

The Montevideo side made €8.5m with the teenager’s sale, which was a huge deal by local standards, and there’s now big expectation for the winger to make his debut with the Red Devils.

So as Peñarol legend Pato Aguilera was interviewed by Sport890, he was asked about the youngster. There’s a special reason for that, as he just received a signed Manchester United shirt from him.

“Everything that happened with the transfer of Facu was complicated,” Pato Aguillera told Sport890.

“Many things were talked about that are not true, for me it’s an issue that is already closed. The most important thing is that he’s in an important team and Peñarol took good money.”

Aguilera also spoke about the importance for Facundo Pellistri to have compatriot Edinson Cavani to help him adapt to a big European side.

“For me, a lot. I only know him as sometimes when I was going to the national team camp, I’d say hello and he’d shake my hand, he’s a very respectful person. As you said, an impeccable athlete.

“And that’s a cub that will be very good for Facu. Also the coach and some players who are working so he settles in the team which I’ll repeat, he’ll have to work a lot to be able to achieve what he wants.”

Facundo Pellistri was on the bench for Manchester United’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint Germain. But that was the closest he’s been to his debut, as he still waits for the first chance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
